Saudi Arabia’s calendar changes from the lunar Hijri to the solar Gregorian

On 1 October 2016, Saudi Arabia changed their official calendar from the lunar-based Hijri to the solar-based Gregorian, as part of an effort to save public funds. The Hijri calendar is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian. Thus, the salaries of civil servants will be reduced by 11 days, in this one of many cost cutting measures initiated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who has been king since 23 January 2015.

No doubt, Saudi Arabia is in financial difficulty because of the fall in the price of oil and the ongoing war in Yemen.

The war in Yemen is prophesied in Isaiah 21. Isaiah 21:16-17 says, during the tribulation the glory of Kedar shall fail. At the moment, Saudi Arabia is not winning the war in Yemen.

“The burden upon Arabia. …”
– Isaiah 21:13

“For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail: And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.”
– Isaiah 21:16-17

Why is this change in the calendar of Saudi Arabia remarkable, from the standpoint of Bible prophecy?

As you may know, the laws of Saudi Arabia are very Islamic. Recently a woman was arrested, to be lashed, for appearing in public without a burqa or hijab. As for time, Saudi Arabia has used the Islamic lunar-based Hijri calendar since the kingdom was founded in 1932. The solar-based Gregorian calendar is essentially a Christian calendar: i.e. Anno Domini is Latin for “in the year of the Lord”. It stands to reason that the Islamists of Saudi Arabia, e.g. the original Al Qaeda, will be enraged by this change.

Now, Daniel 7:25 prophesies that in the end times, the Antichrist, also known as the Little Horn, will speak against the Most High and think to change times and laws.

“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”
– Daniel 7:25

What’s more, the verse immediately before, Daniel 7:24, prophesies that the Antichrist will subdue 3 kings. That is to say, at first, the Islamic 4th Beast will have 10 horns, but then the Little Horn that rises after the 10 will subdue or supplant 3 of the 10.

“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.”
– Daniel 7:24

It is now my opinion that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, who has been king since 23 January 2015, will be 1 of the 3 horns that the Little Horn will uproot.

“I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”
– Daniel 7:8
