To have faith is to believe. But to be faithful also means to be loyal. The great tribulation before the second coming of Jesus Christ will be a difficult time for Christians but it will serve to separate the wheat from the chaff, distinguish the faithful from the fake.
Faith in the resurrection is key to Christianity. For if we believe per 1 Thessalonians 5:10 that, whether we wake or sleep, we should yet live when Jesus returns, then we will not forsake the cause, no matter what unfolds.
Those who remain stedfast in the faith, unto the end, will be rewarded at the second coming.
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
– Revelation 22:12
“… and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great…”
– Revelation 11:18
Those who remain stedfast in the faith, unto the end, will be made kings and priests of Christ, during his Millennial Reign: Revelation 1:6, Revelation 2:26-28, Revelation 5:10, Revelation 20:6, 2 Timothy 2:12, 1 Peter 2:9, Daniel 7:22, Daniel 7:27, etc.
“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star.”
– Revelation 2:26-28
“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”
– Revelation 20:6
“… ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.”
– Isaiah 61:6
Those who will reign with Jesus Christ, as officials of the kingdom of God across the world, will in effect be exalted as the new aristocracy or nobility.
“Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.”
– Psalms 113:6-8
“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”
– Matthew 5:5
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
– 1 Peter 5:6
The kingdom of God will be a kingdom like no other. It will be a righteous kingdom. It will be a kingdom without the corrupt, without the backstabber and without the sycophant. It will be kingdom of honour and glory.
“They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.”
– Psalms 145:11-13
“… For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
– Matthew 6:13
Daniel 2:35 likens the kingdom of God to a stone that becomes a mountain that eventually fills the whole earth. Isaiah 9:7 says, of the increase of Christ’s government, upon the throne of David, there shall be no end. 1 Corinthians 15:23-25 implies, at some point during the Millennial Reign, the entire world will be under Christian rule.
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
– 2 Corinthians 15:25
To my mind, those who are to serve the kingdom of God must be genuine and loyal to the king and his cause. There can be none who are lukewarm, Revelation 3:16. The tribulation will put one’s loyalty and faith to the test, Revelation 7:14. Only the genuine and faithful will be chosen.
“… for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
– Revelation 17:14
“He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
– 1 Samuel 2:8-10
So, now and in the days to come, if you overcome Satan’s tricks, temptations and threats, and if you keep the faith, then God will give you a crown of righteousness.
