The 8 kingdoms of Revelation 17:9-11

“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.”
– Revelation 17:9-11

In my opinion, the 5 “fallen” kings are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia and Grecia. The one that is, at the time John wrote Revelation, is Rome. The other that is not yet come is Daniel’s fourth beast kingdom, aka the beast with 7 heads and 10 horns, which will last only for 3.5 years, “a short space”. And the eighth kingdom is the beast from the earth, aka Babylon the great in her true colours.

Prophetically, the beast that rises out of the sea rises first, Revelation 13:1. Then, the beast that rises out of the earth, with 2 horns like a lamb, rises, Revelation 13:11. The beast with 2 horns like a lamb that rises out of the earth will be “the hindermost of the nations”, Jeremiah 50:12.

To recap, the 8 kingdoms of Revelation 17:9-11 are:
1. Egypt
2. Assyria
3. Babylon
4. Medo-Persia
5. Grecia
6. Rome
7. The beast with 7 heads and 10 horns
8. The beast with 2 horns like a lamb
