The statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2 implies, the fourth beast will encompass the lands of the third beast (Grecia) just as the third encompassed the second (Medo Persia) and as the second encompassed the first (Babylon).
“And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power. And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.”
– Daniel 8:21-25
Alexander the Great’s empire (Grecia) did break into 4 parts after his death, per the prophecy of Daniel 8:21-22.
North = Pergamon = Turkey
South = Ptolemaic kingdom = Egypt
East = Seleucid kingdom = Syria, Iraq, Iran, etc
West = Macedon = Greece
Daniel 8:23-25 means, in the latter time, the Antichrist shall stand up from within 1 of the 4 areas.
Isaiah 14:25, Isaiah 10:24-25, Isaiah 30:31, Isaiah 31:8 and Micah 5:5 all describe this person as “the Assyrian”. I surmise, he will be from the area of Iraq or Syria, most likely Ninevah in northern Iraq, once part of the Seleucid kingdom.
From 175 BC to 164 BC, the king of the Seleucids was Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a wicked Hellenistic king who worshipped Zeus and persecuted the Jews of Judaea and Samaria, prompting the Maccabean revolt. The name Antiochus even sounds like Antichrist.
Today, with the exception of Greece, the lands of all 4 kingdoms that succeeded the empire of Alexander the Great happen to be quite Islamic. And in 2014, ISIS emerged and claimed swathes of Syria and Iraq as their Islamic State.
Those who say the fourth beast will be a renewed Roman empire of some kind are mistaken. It is inconceivable that the EU would militarily attack Israel.
The fourth beast will surely be an Islamic Caliphate, centred in the Middle East.
